Diarrhea is the #1 cause of infant mortality in India. DAP identified an opportunity for expanding access to diarrhea medicine to rural India through a public-private partnership between an international aid agency, a commercial manufacturer of diarrhea medication, and a consumer products company with over 50,000 women entrepreneurs in rural India. In addition to consumer products like soap and toothpaste, women entrepreneurs in rural India now sell anti-diarrhea medication. The commercial and public health partners support education on preventing and treating diarrhea.
